She rushed to her bedroom to receive the phone. It was her boss. He told her to turn up immediately. Lima got dressed and went out in a hurry. She took a rickshaw to her office. As she was about to get into her boss's room she remembered that she had not turned off the gas stove before leaving for office.
Consequence of Carelessness

She rushed to her bedroom to receive the phone. It was her boss. He told her to turn up immediately. Lima got dressed and went out in a hurry. She took a rickshaw to her office. As she was about to get into her boss's room she remembered that she had not turned off the gas stove before leaving for office.
However, she entered her boss's room and gave him salam. He told her to take a seat. She sat. Then he began to criticize a work she had done recently. He told her that her language was not good in the file. He told her to rewrite it again at home that day. Lima agreed to do and left for home.
As soon as Lima entered her apartment, she found there was smoke inside. She timidly went to the kitchen and saw her pan burning with blazing fire. She immediately called the security men by intercom phone. They came and extinguished fire using the fire box.
Lima vowed never to be careless again about her kitchen. She understood it was her duty to turn off the stove before leaving. It was a new lesson in her life.

লিমা ঢাকার একটি প্রাইভেট ফার্মে চাকরি করেন। তিনি তার অফিসের কাছে একটি ছোট্ট ফ্ল্যাটবাড়িতে একা থাকেন। গত শুক্রবারে যখন তিনি ছুটির দিনের আমোদের আহার হিসেবে মুরগির মাংসের তরকারি রান্না করছিলেন, তার ফোন বেজে উঠল। তিনি ফোন ধরতে বেডরুমে ছুটে গেলেন। এটা ছিল তার ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তা। তিনি লিমাকে তাড়াতাড়ি অফিসে হাজির হতে বললেন। লিমা পোশাক পরে তাড়াহুড়ো করে বেরিয়ে পড়লেন। তিনি একটি রিকশা নিয়ে অফিসে গেলেন। ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তার কক্ষে প্রবেশের আগমুহূর্তে তার মনে পড়ল যে অফিসে আসার পূর্বে তার গ্যাসের চুলার আগুন নেভানো হয়নি।
যা হোক, তিনি ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তার কক্ষে ঢুকে তাকে সালাম দিলেন। তিনি লিমাকে আসন গ্রহণ করতে বললেন। তিনি বসলেন। তখন ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তা তার সদ্য করা একটি কাজের সমালোচনা করা শুরু করলেন। তিনি লিমাকে বললেন যে ফাইলটিতে তার ব্যবহৃত ভাষা মানসম্মত ছিল না। তিনি লিমাকে সে দিনই বাসায় বসে সেটি আবার লিখতে বললেন। লিমা সম্মত হয়ে বাড়ির পথ ধরলেন।
অ্যাপার্টমেন্টে প্রবেশের সাথে সাথে লিমা ভেতরে ধোঁয়া টের পেলেন। তিনি শঙ্কিত চিত্তে রান্নাঘরে গিয়ে দেখলেন যে তার কড়াইটি লেলিহান আগুনে জ্বলছে। তিনি তাৎক্ষণিকভাবে ইন্টারকম ফোনের মাধ্যমে নিরাপত্তা কর্মীদের ডাকলেন। তারা এসে ফায়ার বক্সের সাহায্যে আগুন নিভাল।
লিমা আর কখনও তার রান্নাঘর নিয়ে উদাসীন না হওয়ার প্রতিজ্ঞা করলেন। তিনি বুঝতে পারলেন যে বাড়ি ত্যাগের পূর্বে তার স্টোভটি নেভানো উচিত ছিল। এটা ছিল তার জীবনে এক নতুন শিক্ষা।
