My First Day at School
When I was five, my father took me to a school quite far away from our home. There I followed my father to a room where I saw a big bald-headed man. He looked pleased to see my father but I got frightened when the bald-headed man looked at me. I felt very shy also. Then the unknown man asked us to sit down. We sat down. In a few moments I remembered that he was the Headteacher of my first and new school.
Then he asked me some simple questions and I could answer them all well. The Headteacher became very pleased with me. Then I found that he was actually a very nice man. He looked grave outside but he was really a very kind and cooperative person.
Next, he called the class teacher of class one and asked her to admit me into class one. My class teacher was also a very nice and friendly lady. Suddenly the bell for the first period rang and I entered the first class of my school life. The class teacher took me to class one. All the students in the class welcomed me. I did not know anybody there. This time also I felt a bit nervous. But soon I felt easy and made friends with a few students.
When our class teacher called out my name, I became so excited that I could not understand what I should do. She stared at me for a while and asked me my name and my father’s name. I answered and after that she introduced me to the whole class. The first period passed through introduction and some fun. Suddenly the bell rang and the period was over.
I at once joined my classmates and started shouting and enjoying.
It was my first day at school and it was a very interesting day in my life. Till now I cannot forget this day of my childhood.

বিদ্যালয়ে আমার প্রথম দিন
যখন আমার বয়স পাঁচ, আমার বাবা আমাকে আমাদের বাড়ি থেকে কিছু দূরে একটি বিদ্যালয়ে নিয়ে গেলেন। সেখানে আমি আমার বাবাকে অনুসরণ করে একটি কক্ষে প্রবেশ করলাম সেখানে আমি একজন বড় টাক মাথাওয়ালা লোক দেখলাম। তিনি আমার বাবাকে দেখে খুশি হলেন কিন্তু আমি ভয় পেলাম যখন টাক মাথাওয়ালা লোকটি আমার দিকে তাকিয়েছিল। আমি খুব লজ্জাবোধ করলাম। তারপর অপরিচিত লোকটি আমাদেরকে বসার জন্য বলল। আমরা বসলাম। কিছুক্ষণের মধ্যে আমি বুঝতে পালাম যে তিনি ছিলেন আমার প্রথম এবং নতুন বিদ্যালয়ের প্রধান শিক্ষক। তারপর তিনি আমাকে কয়েকটি সহজ প্রশ্ন জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন আর আমি ভালোভাবে এগুলোর সব কয়টির উত্তর দিলাম। প্রধান শিক্ষক আমার প্রতি খুব সন্তুষ্ট হলেন। এরপর আমি দেখলাম যে তিনি প্রকৃতপক্ষে খুব চমৎকার একজন মানুষ। বাইরে থেকে তাকে খুব গম্ভীর মনে হয় কিন্তু আসলে তিনি খুব দয়ালু এবং সহানুভূতিশীল একজন মানুষ।
পরবর্তীতে তিনি প্রথম শ্রেণির শ্রেণিশিক্ষককে ডাকলেন এবং তাকে বললেন আমাকে প্রথম শ্রেণিতে ভর্তি করার জন্য। আমার শ্রেণিশিক্ষক ছিলেন খুব চমৎকার এবং বন্ধুসুলভ মহিলা। হঠাৎ প্রথম পিরিয়ডের ঘণ্টা বেজে উঠল এবং আমি আমার স্কুল জীবনের প্রথম শ্রেণিতে প্রবেশ করলাম। শ্রেণিশিক্ষক আমাকে প্রথম শ্রেণিতে নিয়ে গেলেন। ক্লাসের সকল ছাত্রছাত্রীরা আমাকে স্বাগত জানাল। আমি সেখানে কাউকে চিনতাম না। এইবার আমি খানিকটা ঘাবড়ে গেলাম। কিন্তু শীঘ্রই আমি স্বস্তি বোধ করলাম এবং কয়েকজন শিক্ষার্থীর সাথে বন্ধুত্ব গড়ে তুললাম।
যখন আমাদের শ্রেণিশিক্ষক আমার নাম ডাকলেন, আমি এতো উত্তেজিত হয়ে পড়লাম যে আমি বুঝতে পালাম না আমাকে কী করতে হবে। তিনি আমার দিকে কিছুক্ষণ তাকিয়ে রইলেন এবং আমাকে আমার নাম এবং আমার বাবার নাম জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন। আমি উত্তর দিলাম এবং এরপর তিনি আমাকে শ্রেণিতে পরিচয় করিয়ে দিলেন। প্রথম পিরিয়ড অতিবাহিত হলো পরিচয় পর্ব এবং আনন্দ করার মধ্য দিয়ে। হঠাৎ ঘণ্টা বেজে উঠল এবং পিরিয়ডটি শেষ হলো। আমি তৎক্ষণাৎ আমার সহপাঠীদের সাথে যোগ দিলাম এবং চিৎকার ও আনন্দ করতে লাগলাম।
এটি ছিল আমার বিদ্যালয়ের প্রথম দিন এবং আমার জীবনে এটি খুব আনন্দের একটি দিন ছিল। এখনো আমি আমার শৈশবের এই দিনটি ভুলতে পারি না।
