Water Pollution
Pollution is the process of making the element of environment dirty. The elements of environment such as water, air, soil etc are getting polluted every day. Of all the pollutions, water pollution is the most threatening to our life. Water, a vital element of the environment, is also polluted in different ways. Man pollutes water by throwing waste into it. Farmers use chemical fertilizers and insecticides in their fields. When rain and floods wash away some of these chemicals get mixed with water in rivers, canals and ponds. Mills and factories also throw their poisonous chemicals and waste products into rivers and canals and thus pollute the water. Water vehicles also pollute rivers by dumping oil, food waste and human waste into them. Insanitary latrines and unsafe drains standing on river and canal banks are also responsible for further pollution. Furthermore, Kutcha drains running into the canals and rivers cause water pollution. Clean water is safe for use but polluted water is harmful for man. Water pollution can be prevented in many ways. We suffer from cholera, diarrhoea, dysentery and many other water-borne diseases when we drink polluted water. We should refrain from throwing waste and filth into water to minimize water pollution. However, it is important to note that water is life, but polluted water causes death.
পানি দূষণ
দূষণ এমন একটি প্রক্রিয়া যা পরিবেশের উপাদানগুলোকে নোংরা করে দেয়। পরিবেশের উপাদান যেমন- পানি, বাতাস, মাটি ইত্যাদি প্রতিদিন দূষিত হচ্ছে। সকল দূষণের মধ্যে পানি দূষণ আমাদের জীবনে সবচেয়ে ভয়ংকর। পরিবেশের একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ উপাদান পানি বিভিন্নভাবে দূষিত হচ্ছে। মানুষ পানিতে ময়লা-আবর্জনা নিক্ষেপ করে এটাকে দূষিত করে। কৃষকেরা তাদের ফসলের মাঠে রাসায়নিক সার ও কীটনাশক ব্যবহার করে। যখন বৃষ্টির পানি বা বন্যা এদের কিছু উপাদানকে ধুয়ে নিয়ে যায়, সেগুলো নদী, খাল ও পুকুরের পানিতে গিয়ে মিশে। কলকারখানাগুলোও তাদের বিষাক্ত রাসায়নিক পদার্থ ও বর্জ্য পদার্থ নদী ও খালের পানিতে ফেলে দিচ্ছে আর এভাবে পানি দূষিত হচ্ছে। জলযানগুলো তৈল, খাবার বর্জ্য এবং মানব বর্জ্য পানিতে ফেলে নদীর পানিকে দূষিত করে। অস্বাস্থ্যকর পায়খানা এবং অনিরাপদ পয়ঃনিষ্কাশন যা নদী এবং খালের তীরে অবস্থিত সেগুলোও দূষণের জন্য দায়ী। অধিকন্তু, খাল ও নদীতে প্রবাহমান কাচা নালা/ড্রেন পানি দূষণ ঘটায়, পরিষ্কার পানি ব্যবহারের জন্য নিরাপদ কিন্তু দূষিত পানি মানুষের জন্য ক্ষতিকর। পানি দূষণ নানাভাবে প্রতিরোধ করা যায়। দূষিত পানি পান করে আমরা কলেরা, ডায়রিয়া, আমাশয় এবং অন্যান্য অনেক পানিবাহিত রোগে ভুগে থাকি। পানি দূষণ কমানোর জন্য পানিতে বর্জ্য আবর্জনা ফেলা থেকে আমাদের বিরত থাকা উচিত। যাহোক, উল্লেখ করা খুবই প্রয়োজন যে, পানি হচ্ছে জীবন, কিন্তু দূষিত পানি মৃত্যু ঘটায়।
