An ant lived on the bank of a river. The level of water in the river was increasing gradually. One day a wave stroke at the shore. At that moment the ant was walking. It slipped into water and could not reach the shore. A dove observed the matter. He felt for the ant and became very sympathetic.
He took a leaf of a jackfruit tree and spared it downward the water. The drowning ant caught it. Both the leaf and the ant were floating. At last the ant reached the shore. When he got back his life, he heard everything from the dove. He thanked the dove and soon they became friends.

ঘুঘু এবং পিঁপড়া
একটি পিঁপড়া একটি নদীর তীরে বাস করত। নদীটির পানির সীমা ধীরে ধীরে বাড়ছিল। একদিন একটি ঢেউ তীরে আঘাত করল। সেই মুহুর্তে পিঁপড়াটি হাঁটছিল। এটা পিছলে পানিতে পড়ে গেল এবং তীরে উঠতে পারল না। একটি ঘুঘু বিষয়টি দেখল। পিঁপড়াটির জন্য তার মায়া হল এবং তার প্রতি সে খুব সহানুভূতিশীল হল।
সে কাঁঠাল গাছের একটি পাতা ছিঁড়ে পানিতে ছেড়ে দিল। ডুবন্ত পিঁপড়াটি সেটা ধরল। পাতা এবং পিঁপড়া উভয়ই ভাসছিল। অবশেষে পিঁপড়াটি তীরে উঠল। যখন সে তার জীবন ফিরে পেল, ঘুঘুর কাছ থেকে সে সবকিছু শুনল। সে ঘুঘুটিকে ধন্যবাদ জানাল এবং অতি দ্রুতই তারা বন্ধু হয়ে গেল।
একদিন ঘুঘুটি যখন নদীর তীরে বসেছিল তখন এক শিকারী তাকে শিকার করতে উদ্যত হল। সেই মুহুর্তে কৃতজ্ঞ পিঁপড়াটি ঘুঘুটিকে বাঁচাতে একটি পরিকল্পনা করল। শিকারি যখন তার বন্দুকটি ঘুঘুর দিকে তাক করল তখন পিঁপড়া তার পায়ে কামড় বসিয়ে দিল। ফলে, শিকারী লাফিয়ে উঠল এবং তার নিশানা ভুল করল। আওয়াজ শুনে সাথে সাথে পাখিটি উড়ে গেল। এভাবে, পিঁপড়াটি তার উপকারী বন্ধু ঘুঘুর জীবন বাঁচাল।
