The City/Town You Live In
I am happy and fortunate enough to enjoy a lot of modern facilities and amenities. It is because I am a town dweller. The town I live in is the biggest and most famous in my mother land. It is also the capital city of Bangladesh. The name of this city is Dhaka. Dhaka is situated on the Buriganga and at the central point of the country. The renowned and well known educational institutions, the medical centres, shopping centres, the air-port etc serve the city dwellers very much. Dhaka is called the city of mosques. People of all religions, professions and all regions of the country live in this city. They are provided with all types of modern amenities. It was a very favourite business centre to the Europeans. Dhaka is now bestowed with a lot of problems. It has become a great problem for her to accommodate so many people in a small land area. The name of traffic jam terrifies the city dwellers. Sometimes terrorism gets increased to sweep away the peace of mind of the town people. The city is getting more and more polluted day by day. There is almost no open space provided for children to play in my city. But, to the best of my knowledge it is the best city in Bangladesh.
তুমি যে শহরে বাস কর
অনেক আধুনিক সুযোগ-সুবিধা উপভোগ করতে পেরে আমি যথেষ্ট সুখী ও ভাগ্যবান। কারণ আমি একজন শহরবাসী। যে শহরে আমি বসবাস করি সেটি আমার মাতৃভূমির সবচেয়ে বড় ও বিখ্যাত শহর। এটি বাংলাদেশের রাজধানীও বটে। এই শহরের নাম হচ্ছে ঢাকা। ঢাকা বুড়িগঙ্গার তীরে এবং দেশের কেন্দ্রীয় স্থানে অবস্থিত। বিখ্যাত ও সুপরিচিত শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলো, চিকিৎসা কেন্দ্রগুলো, বিপণী বিতানগুলো, বিমান বন্দর ইত্যাদি এই শহরের লোকদেরকে খুব বেশি সেবা দিয়ে থাকে। ঢাকাকে মসজিদের শহর বলা হয়। সকল ধর্ম, পেশা ও সকল অঞ্চলের লোক এখানে বসবাস করে। তাদেরকে সকল প্রকার আধুনিক সুযোগ-সুবিধা দেওয়া হয়। ইউরোপিয়ানদের নিকট এটা-একটা জনপ্রিয় ব্যবসা কেন্দ্র ছিল। ঢাকা এখন অনেক সমস্যায় ভরপুর হিসেবে পরিচিত। এই ছোট অঞ্চলে বিশাল জনসংখ্যার সামাল দিতে অনেক সমস্যা হচ্ছে। ট্রাফিক জ্যাম শহরের লোকদেরকে ভীত করে তোলে। মাঝে মাঝে শহরের মানুষের মনের শান্তি কেড়ে নেওয়ার জন্য সন্ত্রাসবাদ বৃদ্ধি পায়। শহরটি দিনের পর দিন বেশি বেশি দূষিত হচ্ছে। এখানে ছেলেমেয়েদের খেলাধুলার জন্য কোনো খোলা মাঠ নেই বললেই চলে। কিন্তু, আমার জানামতে এটিই হচ্ছে বাংলাদেশের সবচেয়ে ভালো শহর।
