Punishment of a Liar
There lived a shepherd boy in a pastoral area. He kept a flock of sheep near a forest. In the forest, there lived a wolf. At times, the wolf would come out and kill lambs and farmers. The shepherd boy had a bad habit of telling lies. He used to make a fun with villagers shouting "Wolf! Wolf! Help!" The villagers would think that the young shepherd boy might be in danger. The villagers would rush to save the shepherd boy with sticks, spears and tools. But they would find no wolf.
Seeing the villagers, the shepherd would laugh at them. The villagers would become annoyed and return to their work. The liar shepherd would make the same fun few and far between. The villagers would come forward to protect the boy and return home being annoyed.
But one day a wolf really came. The shepherd boy shouted to his highest voice. The villagers heard his shouting but they did not extend their helping hands. They did not come to rescue the shepherd. The wolf killed all his sheep. The boy cried loudly and asked for help. But nobody came. The wolf also killed the shepherd. The poor unfortunate shepherd lost his life for telling lies.
So, we should never tell a lie.

মিথ্যাবাদীর শাস্তি
এক গ্রামে এক মেষপালক বাস করত। সে বনের কাছে মেষের পাল চড়াত। বনের মধ্যে, একটি নেকড়ে বাস করত। মাঝে মাঝে নেকড়ে এসে কৃষক ও মেষ শাবকদের হত্যা করত। মেষপালক ছেলেটির মিথ্যা বলার অভ্যাস ছিল। সে “নেকড়ে! নেকড়ে! সাহায্য কর!” বলে তীব্র চিৎকার করে গ্রামবাসীর সাথে মজা/ তামাসা করত। গ্রামবাসীরা চিন্তা করত/ ভাবত যে তরুণ মেষপালক বিপদে পড়েছে। গ্রামবাসীরা মেষপালককে রক্ষা করার জন্য লাঠি, বর্শা ও হাতিয়ার নিয়ে দ্রুত ঘটনাস্থলে যেত। কিন্তু তারা কোনো নেকড়ে পেত না।
গ্রামবাসীদের দেখে মেষপালক হাসত। গ্রামবাসীরা এতে বিরক্ত হত এবং তাদের কাজে ফিরে যেত। মিথ্যাবাদী মেষপালক মাঝে মধ্যে এরকম তামাসা বা মজা করত। গ্রামবাসীরা ছেলেটিকে বাঁচানোর জন্য এগিয়ে আসত এবং বিরক্ত হয়ে গৃহে ফিরত।
কিন্তু একদিন সত্যিই একটি নেকড়ে আসল। মেষপালক ছেলেটি তার উচ্চকণ্ঠে চিৎকার করেছিল। গ্রামবাসীরা তার চিৎকার শুনেছিল কিন্তু তারা তাদের সাহায্যের হাত বাড়ায়নি। তারা মেষপালককে উদ্ধারের জন্য এগিয়ে আসেনি। নেকড়েটি তার সব ভেড়া মেরে ফেলল। বালকটি উচ্চস্বরে কাঁদছিল এবং সাহায্য চাইছিল। কিন্তু কেউ এগিয়ে এল না। নেকড়েটি মেষপালককেও হত্যা করল/ মেরে ফেলল। হতভাগ্য মেষপালক মিথ্যা বলার জন্য তার জীবন হারাল।
তাই, আমাদের কখনো মিথ্যা বলা উচিত নয়।
