Price hike or the increase of price of the daily essential commodities is the most talked about issue at the present time. In our country it has become a usual phenomenon now. The price of the daily commodities is soaring sky high to go out of reach of the poor and the lower middle class people of our country. There are a lot of causes behind this price hike. Hoarding of essential commodities by the dishonest businessmen is one of the causes of price hike. Smuggling and black marketing by traders and people in general are also important factors causing price rise. Many dishonest men have earned huge black money through black marketing. This has caused great suffering to the people. Shortage of supply due to low production also accelerates the price hike of essential goods. At present syndicate business has added to this plight. Due to inflation price hike is more acute in our country. Government mechanism to curb price hike is defective. Many poor villagers cannot afford to manage two square meals a day. Very often they suffer from malnutrition and other diseases. Many even die without getting proper medical treatment. Public awareness against illegal hoarders of the daily necessaries, smugglers and black marketers can remove this curse from the country.

মূল্য বৃদ্ধি বা নিত্যপ্রয়োজনীয় পণ্যাদির মূল্য বৃদ্ধি আজকের দিনের সবচেয়ে আলোচিত বিষয়। এখন আমাদের দেশে এটি একটি সচরাচর বিষয়ে পরিণত হয়েছে। নিত্যপ্রয়োজনীয় জিনিসপত্রের দাম আকাশচুম্বী হয়ে আমাদের দেশের দরিদ্র ও নিম্নমধ্যবিত্ত শ্রেণীর মানুষের নাগালের বাইরে চলে যাচ্ছে। এ মূল্য বৃদ্ধির পশ্চাতে বহু কারণ রয়েছে। অসাধু ব্যবসায়ীদের দ্বারা প্রয়োজনীয় পণ্যের বিজ্ঞাপন দান মূল্য বৃদ্ধির অন্যতম কারণ। ব্যবসায়ী ও সাধারণ লোকদের দ্বারা পণ্য পাচার ও কালোবাজারিও মূল্য বৃদ্ধির গুরুত্বপূর্ণ নিয়ামক। অনেক অসৎ লোক কালোবাজারির মাধ্যমে বিপুল কালো টাকা উপার্জন করেছেন। এটা জনসাধারণের ব্যাপক ভোগান্তির কারণ হয়েছে। স্বল্প উৎপাদনের কারণে কম সরবরাহের কারণেও প্রয়োজনীয় পণ্যের দাম দ্রুতগতিতে বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে। বর্তমানে এ দুর্যোগের সাথে যুক্ত হয়েছে সিন্ডিকেট ব্যবসা। মুদ্রাস্ফীতির কারণে আমাদের দেশে মূল্য বৃদ্ধি আরও তীব্র। মূল্য বৃদ্ধি সহনীয় মাত্রায় রাখতে সরকারের কৌশল ত্রুটিপূর্ণ। অনেক দরিদ্র গ্রামবাসী দু’বেলা খাবার যোগাতে পারে না। প্রায়ই তারা অপুষ্টি ও অন্যান্য রোগে ভোগে। পর্যাপ্ত চিকিৎসা না পেয়ে অনেকে মারাও যায়। নিত্যপ্রয়োজনীয় পণ্যের বিজ্ঞাপনদাতা, পাচারকারী ও কালোবাজারীদের বিরুদ্ধে গণসচেতনতা দেশ থেকে এ অভিশাপ দূর করতে পারে।
