Peace Movement
A peace movement is a social movement. It seeks to achieve such goals as the ending of a particular war (or all wars), minimizing inter-human violence and achieving world peace. It is basically an all-encompassing "anti-war movement", primarily characterized by a belief that human beings should not wage war on each other or engage in violent disputes on race, religion, language, ideology or natural resources. The goals of the peace movement include advocacy of pacifism, non-violent resistance, demonstrations, peace camps, supporting anti-war politicians, banning guns, supporting activists for peace, etc. Though peace movement organizations may have diverse aims, their one common goal is sustainability of peace. The peace movement also opposes the proliferation of dangerous technologies and destructive weapons, particularly nuclear weapons. In these ways, its aims at establishing a world free from hatred and enmity. The first peace movement happened in 1815-1816. The first such movement in the USA was the New York Peace Society founded in 1815. Peace organizations were set up in many countries. The United Nations was established with the primary objective to maintain peace and resolve inter-state conflicts in the world. Since then, many treaties have been signed between many nations, for example nuclear non-proliferation treaty. All want peace and like the principles of non-violence.
শান্তি আন্দোলন
শান্তি আন্দোলন হচ্ছে একটি সামাজিক আন্দোলন। কোনো বিশেষ যুদ্ধের পরিসমাপ্তিকরণ (অথবা সব যুদ্ধ), আন্তঃআণবিক সংঘাত হ্রাস এবং বিশ্ব শান্তি অর্জনই হচ্ছে শান্তি আন্দোলনের মূল লক্ষ্য। এটি হচ্ছে পুরোপুরিভাবে একটি যুদ্ধ বিরোধী আন্দোলন, এটিকে প্রাথমিকভাবে এমন একটি বিশ্বাস দ্বারা চিহ্নিত করা হয় যে, মানুষের একে অপরের সাথে যুদ্ধে লিপ্ত হওয়া অথবা ভাষা, জাতি, প্রাকৃতিক সম্পদ, ধর্ম অথবা ভাবাদর্শগত সহিংস সংঘাতে জড়িয়ে পড়া উচিত নয়। শান্তি আন্দোলনের উদ্দেশ্য অর্জনে শান্তিবাদের পক্ষপাতিত্ব, অহিংস প্রতিবন্ধকতা, বিক্ষোভ প্রদর্শন, শান্তি শিবির, যুদ্ধবিরোধী রাজনৈতিক প্রার্থীদের সমর্থন, আগ্নেয়াস্ত্র নিষিদ্ধকরণ, শান্তি কার্যক্রমে সমর্থন ইত্যাদি অন্তর্ভুক্ত করা হয়। যদিও শান্তি আন্দোলনের সাথে জড়িত সংস্থাসমূহের বিভিন্ন লক্ষ্য থাকতে পারে তথাপি তাদের সবার একটি সাধারণ লক্ষ্য হচ্ছে শান্তির স্থায়িত্ব। শান্তি আন্দোলন বিপজ্জনক প্রযুক্তিসমূহের বর্ধন এবং ব্যাপক ধ্বংসাত্বক অস্ত্রেরও বিরোধিতা করে, বিশেষ করে পারমাণবিক অস্ত্রের। এভাবে হিংসা ও বিদ্বেষমুক্ত পৃথিবী প্রতিষ্ঠা করাই এর উদ্দেশ্য। সর্বপ্রথম শান্তি আন্দোলন হয় ১৮১৫-১৮১৬ সালে। মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে এরকম প্রথম আন্দোলন ছিল ১৮১৫ সালে প্রতিষ্ঠিত নিউইয়র্ক পীস সোসাইটি। বহু দেশে শান্তিকামী সংস্থা স্থাপিত হয়। শান্তিরক্ষা ও বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন দেশের মধ্যে দ্বন্দ্ব নিরসনের প্রাথমিক লক্ষ্য নিয়ে জাতিসংঘ প্রতিষ্ঠা করা হয়। তখন থেকে বহু জাতির মধ্যে বহু চুক্তি স্বাক্ষরিত হয়েছে, যেমন- পারমাণবিক অস্ত্র বিস্তার রোধ চুক্তি। সকলেই শান্তি চায় এবং অহিংসার মতবাদ পছন্দ করে।
