Facebook is a very popular social networking site which has both advantages and disadvantages. It is a great way to keep in touch with your family and friends that live far away. With instant messaging and even video chat, Facebook is the perfect environment to stay connected. With the status updates, photos and profile information, it can keep us up to date on the happenings of all of our close ones. Facebook makes meeting new people extremely easy. Using Facebook one can express one's opinion easily. Facebook has some disadvantages too. It is very easy for cyber bullies to thrive. They can harass and gang up on one person. There aren't moderators that go around monitoring what people say to each other. Besides, teenagers who spend much time on Facebook, will suffer in the long run as their valuable time for study is not used properly. So there is no denying to say that Facebook has a lot of advantages with some disadvantages too. Active but overt monitoring and open communication about appropriate usage is the key to all the problems. This active role could prevent serious consequences such as depression, anxiety or even suicide. It is also important for parents to stay abreast with online trends and the latest technologies, websites and applications.

‘ফেসবুক’ একটি অতি পরিচিত সামাজিক নেটওয়ার্ক সাইট যার সুবিধা ও অসুবিধা উভয়ই আছে। দূরে বসবাসরত তোমার পরিবার ও বন্ধুদের সাথে সংযোগ রাখার এটা এক বিরাট উপায়। তাৎক্ষনিক ক্ষুদে বার্তা আদান প্রদান এবং এমনকি ভিডিও আলাপচারিতার মাধ্যমে ফেসবুক যোগাযোগ রক্ষার এক নিখুঁত পরিবেশ। স্ট্যটাস আপডেটস, ফটোস এবং প্রোফাইল তথ্যের মাধ্যমে এটা আমাদের সকল নিকট জনের ঘটনাদি সম্পর্কে অবহিত রাখে। ফেসবুক ব্যবহার করে একজন সহজে তার মতামত প্রকাশ করতে পারে। ফেসবুকের কিছু অসুবিধাও আছে। সাইবার বুলীদের বেঁচে/টিকে থাকা খুব সহজ। তারা একজন লোককে নাকাল করতে এবং তার বিরুদ্ধে দলবদ্ধ হয়ে কাজ করতে পারে। জনগন একে অন্যকে কী বলে তা মনিটর/পরীক্ষা করার মত সমন্বয়কারী তারা নয়। তাছাড়া, যে সমস্ত কিশোর ফেসবুকে প্রচুর সময় ব্যয় করে তারা পরিণামে কষ্ট ভোগ করে যেহেতু তারা তাদের মূল্যবান সময় লেখাপড়ায় যথাযথভাবে ব্যবহার করে না। সুতরাং বলার অপেক্ষা রাখেনা যে কিছু অসুবিধা থাকা সত্ত্বেও ফেসবুকের অনেক সুবিধা আছে। সক্রিয় কিন্তু প্রকাশ্য পর্যবেক্ষণ ও খোলাখুলি যোগাযোগের যথাযথ প্রয়োগ এ সকল সমস্যার সমাধান। এ ধরনের সক্রিয় ভূমিকা হতাশা, উৎকণ্ঠা বা আত্মহননের মত মারাত্বক পরিণতিকে প্রতিহত করতে পারে। অনলাইনের মাধ্যমে কিশোর-তরুণদের বিভিন্ন কার্যকলাপের প্রবণতা এবং সর্বশেষ প্রযুক্তি, ওয়েবসাইট ও অ্যাপিÐকেশনগুলো সম্পর্কে মা-বাবাদের জ্ঞাত থাকা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।
