Computer
Computer is a wonderful invention of modern science. It is a complex electronic machine that consists of innumerable ingredients. Now there are normally two types of computer. They are desktop and laptop. Desktop is more common and popular than the laptop which is rather expensive. Any computer has two parts. They are hardware and software. The mechanical and electronic parts are called hardware. Software refers to the data or programmes that we use to serve our purposes. A computer consists of five major components–the input unit, the memory unit, the control unit, the arithmetic unit and the output unit. The memory unit, the control unit and the arithmetic unit constitute central processing unit. However, every computer has its machine language to give instruction for operation. This language may vary from machine to machine. Anyway, computer, nowadays, has become inseparable from our daily life. This modern machine is being used almost in every sector of human activities. Scientists are using it for carrying out research activities. Doctors are using it for diagnosis. The use of computer has changed the entire banking system. Even this machine is being used in education and agriculture sector. Thus computer is now contributing to the advancement of life and building up of new potentialities in science and technology.

কম্পিউটার আধুনিক বিজ্ঞানের এক বিস্ময়কর আবিষ্কার। এটি একটি জটিল ইলেকট্রনিক যন্ত্র যা অসংখ্য উপাদানের সমন্বয়ে গঠিত। বর্তমানে সাধারণভাবে দুই ধরনের কম্পিউটার রয়েছে। সেগুলো হলো ল্যাপটপ ও ডেস্কটপ। ডেস্কটপ ল্যাপটপের চেয়ে বেশি পরিচিত ও জনপ্রিয় বরং ল্যাপটপই ব্যয়বহুল। যেকোনো কম্পিউটারের দুটি অংশ রয়েছে। সেগুলো হলো হার্ডওয়্যার ও সফটওয়্যার। যান্ত্রিক এবং ইলেকট্রনিক অংশগুলোকে হার্ডওয়্যার বলে। সফটওয়্যার বলতে বোঝায় সে সকল তথ্য ও উপাত্তকে যা আমাদের কাজ করতে আমরা ব্যবহার করি। একটি কম্পিউটার পাঁচটি প্রধান উপাদানের সমন্বয়ে গঠিত- ইনপুট ইউনিট, মেমোরি ইউনিট, কন্ট্রোল ইউনিট, বীজগাণিতিক ইউনিট এবং আউটপুট ইউনিট। মেমোরি ইউনিট, কন্ট্রোল ইউনিট এবং বীজগাণিতিক ইউনিট নিয়ে সেন্ট্রাল প্রসেসিং ইউনিট গঠিত। যা হোক সকল কম্পিউটারের ক্রিয়া পরিচালনা করার জন্য নির্দেশনা দেওয়ার নিজস্ব মেশিনের ভাষা রয়েছে। মেশিন থেকে মেশিনে এই ভাষার ভিন্নতা রয়েছে। যা হোক, কম্পিউটার, বর্তমানে আমাদের দৈনন্দিন জীবনে এক অবিচ্ছেদ্য অংশ হয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে। এই আধুনিক যন্ত্রটি মানব কার্যাবলির প্রায় সকল ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহৃত হচ্ছে। বিজ্ঞানীরা উদ্ভাবনী কাজে এটি ব্যবহার করছে। ডাক্তাররা রোগ সনাক্তকরণ কাজে এটি ব্যবহার করছে। কম্পিউটার ব্যবহার সমগ্র ব্যাংকিং পদ্ধতিকে পরিবর্তন করেছে। এমনকি এই যন্ত্র শিক্ষা এবং কৃষিক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহার করা হচ্ছে। এভাবে বর্তমানে কম্পিউটার জীবনের অগ্রগতিতে এবং বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তিতে নতুন সম্ভাবনা তৈরিতে অবদান রাখছে।
