Air Pollution
Air, one of the most important elements of our environment, is getting polluted continuously posing a great threat to our existence. No human or animal can survive without air. This essential element of our environment is getting polluted in various ways. Smoke of all kinds is the most common factor for causing air pollution. Man makes fire to cook food, to burn refuse and to melt pitch for road construction. All these things create heavy smoke and pollute the air. Smoke emitted from mills, factories, brickfields and industries also cause air pollution. Moreover, motor vehicles like cars, buses and trucks plying on roads and highways also produce a lot of smoke causing air pollution. Furthermore, by burning coal, petrol, diesel and oil, railway engines and power houses create smoke and pollute the air. But the most serious air pollution often occurs in big cities and industrial areas. Air pollution ultimately causes serious kinds of airborne diseases like hyper tension, cancer and so on. Sometimes serious kind of air pollution even leads to death. We must stop air pollution to keep the world a habitable place. It is man who can stop air pollution by planting many more trees for a healthier and happier life.
বায়ু দূষণ
আমাদের পরিবেশের সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ উপাদান বায়ু অনবরত দূষিত হয়ে আামদের অস্তিত্বের জন্য বিরাট হুমকি হয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে। বায়ু ছাড়া কোনো মানুষ বা জীবজন্তু বাঁচতে পারে না। আমাদের পরিবেশের এই অপরিহার্য উপাদান বিভিন্ন উপায়ে দূষিত হচ্ছে। সব ধরনের ধোঁয়া বায়ু দূষণের সবচেয়ে সাধারণ উৎস। খাবার রান্না করতে, আবর্জনা পোড়াতে এবং রাস্তা নির্মাণের জন্য পিচ গলাতে মানুষ আগুন জ্বালায়। এসব কিছুই প্রচুর ধোঁয়া সৃষ্টি করে এবং বায়ু দূষিত করে। কলকারখানা, ইটভাটা এবং শিল্প হতে নির্গত ধোঁয়া বায়ু দূষণ ঘটায়। উপরন্তু রাস্তাঘাটে চলমান বিভিন্ন মোটরযান যেমন গাড়ী, বাস এবং ট্রাক প্রচুর ধোঁয়া উদগীরণ করে বায়ু দূষণ ঘটায়। উপরন্তু কয়লা, পেট্রোল, ডিজেল ও তেল পুড়িয়ে রেলওয়ে ইঞ্জিন এবং পাওয়ার হাউজগুলো ধোঁয়া সৃষ্টি করে বায়ু দূষিত করে। কিন্তু সবচেয়ে মারাত্বক বায়ু দূষণ বড় বড় নগর ও শিল্পাঞ্চলে ঘটে থাকে। বায়ু দূষণ পরিশেষে বিভিন্ন প্রকার বায়ুবাহিত রোগ যেমন রক্তের অস্বাভাবিক উচ্চচাপ, ক্যান্সার ইত্যাদি ঘটায়। মাঝে মাঝে মারাত্বক বায়ু দূষণ মৃত্যুও ঘটায়। পৃথিবীকে একটি বাসযোগ্য জায়গা রাখতে আমাদেরকে অবশ্যই বায়ু দূষণ বন্ধ করতে হবে। একমাত্র মানুষই অধিকতর স্বাস্থ্যকর ও সুখী জীবনের জন্য অনেক অনেক গাছপালা লাগিয়ে বায়ু দূষণ বন্ধ করতে পারে।
