OUR NATIONAL FLAG
National flag is the symbol of independence and prosperity. It expresses the identity of a nation. Without the national flag, no nation can express itself among the nations of the world. Because the national flag helps to .recognize a nation separately from the various nations of the world. Thus, every independent nation has a national flag. Like others, we have one too. Our national flag is the symbol of independence -and prosperity. It is rectangular in size. There is a red circle in the midst of green. The ratio of the length and width of the flag is 10:6. Red and green colours are used in it. They symbolize that the martyrs who laid down their lives for the freedom of our country are evergreen. Late artist Kamrul Hasan designed it. It is hoisted at top public and private buildings in different national occasions. It was first raised on the premises of the University of Dhaka on the 2nd March, 1971. A.S.M. Abdur Rob, the Vice President of DACSU raised it for the first time as the representative of the nation. The design of that flag was a little bit different earlier. Then the map of Bangladesh was in the middle of green colour. Our national flag represents our national identity. It expresses our honour and helps us to raise our heads amongst the nation of the world as an independent and brave nation. To show due respect and honour to our national flag is our bounden duty. To avoid showing respect to our national flag is similar to dishonour our total nation. So everybody of us should be conscious of it.
