GLOBAL WARMING
Our environment comprises the elements that surround us. Air, water, the' sun, the moon, weather, climate and everything fall under the category of the environment. The environment makes us survive. But in recent years, there have been many alarming reports to the effect that the world's climate is undergoing a significant change. All these reports provide a strong evidence that the world temperature is increasing day by day. This is called global warning. It is caused by a decrease in oxygen and an increase in carbon dioxide and other gases in the air that trap the warmth of the sun. This warming of the atmosphere changes climate, and causes cyclone, floods and other natural calamities which cause crop failure and loss of lives. It is a serious threat to mankind. Most climatologists believe that the greenhouse effect is the probable cause of global warming. This reduces mankind's ability to grow food, destroy coastal areas and farmland. The global warming issue is not now confined to a particular country or area, the whole of the world is affected by it more or less. A rise in the sea level, for example, will submerge many low-lying countries of the globe. This danger is global because it will affect not only a particular country but the whole of the earth. The people of different countries face the same category of troubles. So, the United Nations Organization has taken some effective steps by creating a fund to be shared by the rich countries of the world. So, it is evident that the global problem is really global in nature.
