The necessity of learning English
Once upon a time the English ruled about half of the world and the people of those countries were introduced with English. That is why, English has been used for international communication. Now every country uses English for international communication. So English is called an International language.
As English is an International language, its demand is endless because it is a medium of communication. The man who knows English well gets a good or a very good job both at home or in abroad. The jobs of a pilot, a stewardess, a navigator, a telephone operator, a receptionist, a tourist guide, a secretary, a foreign hotel-boy are fully unthinkable without vast knowledge in English. If a man likes to get a job in a foreign office or in a multinational company, he must know English well. Even a postman, a repairman or a mechanic has to read some English topics and so they must know English.
For higher education in a general university, a medical college, and engineering college of our country or in an educational institution of foreign country, we have to learn English well because the courses are in English. Moreover, all the books of higher level of education are written in English by the native writers or by the foreign writers. That is why, there is no alternative of English if a student wants to receive higher education. For the running of a state, the rulers should have vast knowledge in English because they have to communicate between two countries for political purpose. For the modern scientific, technological and medical researches and development, English is necessary. So we all should learn English well.
As English is not our mother language, we have to learn English sincerely. We all know that practice makes a man perfect. So we should practice it in different situations. There may be some mistakes at first and so anybody may criticize us, but we should not be dishearten. We also should read newspaper, magazine etc. and should listen English news or programs. To know world culture, we are to read foreign English newspaper and are to hear Radio and TV programs. Only English helps us in this case. English language is the second language in Bangladesh. So learning English is not very easy. In case of learning English, the rules of grammar help greatly. So we should learn the rules of grammar accurately.
Our government has taken some steps to encourage people to learn English. There are some training centers where English teachers are given training. Moreover, there is a special arrangement for the English teachers of schools and colleges.
