Every year Bangladesh is faced with flood, storm, cyclone, drought, heavy rain, river erosion, slight earthquakes etc. So Bangladesh is called a land of natural calamities. Flood is the most common natural calamity here. Storm and river erosion are also the seasonal companion of the Bangladeshis.
Flood occurs in the rainy season every year. Generally, it occurs in the month of June, July and August.
The impact of flood is very miserable. It causes heavy loss of life, property and crops. It washes away our villages, roads and corn-fields. Even sometimes people’s houses go under water. It washes away cattle and houses. All the communication is hampered. People become homeless. They take shelter on the high roads, schools and colleges.
The after effects of flood are more dangerous. Epidemic and famine break out after flood. There is scarcity of drinking water and the price of all daily necessities goes up. Most people suffer from cholera, diarrhea, dysentery etc. diseases.
Moreover, these homeless people have to depend on relief or the help of people.
